Melt Pressure Transducers

Gefran melt pressure transducers are designed for polymer production and processing, delivering accurate pressure measurement in environments reaching up to 538 °C. They convert melt pressure into reliable electrical signals — mV/V, 4–20 mA, 0–10 V, Gauge, CANopen, IO-LINK, or HART — for seamless integration with control systems.

Available in rigid stem, flexible stem, flexible with thermocouple, and exposed capillary designs, the range covers pressures from 0–17 bar to 0–3000 bar. Models are built using either fluid-filled or fluid-free piezoresistive technology to suit different accuracy and maintenance requirements.

High electromagnetic immunity ensures stable measurement even in electrically noisy environments. Optional ATEX, PLd, and SIL2 versions support modern safety architectures.

Sensitive to environmental and food safety compliance, and in full harmony with the RoHS Directive (2002/95/CE), GEFRAN offers a wide range of mercury-free melt pressure sensors, both with filling fluid (oil or NaK) and fluid free (IMPACT).

Gefran melt sensors provide robust, long-term performance for extrusion, injection moulding, blow moulding, and all polymer melt-handling applications.

Also available are Gefran GRD rupture disks (burst plugs) for emergency pressure relief of extruders. They are designed to instantaneously rupture at a specific pressure. This provides reliable relief in applications where rapid pressure buildup can occur, protecting both personnel and equipment.
